A 21-year old with Down’s syndrome has modelled in New York Fashion Week as part of a show celebrating models facing challenges.
Marian Avila, from Alicante, was contacted by designer Talisha White on Facebook after the designer was recommended her by another model.
She wore two sparkling evening gowns in the show, accompanied by her parents and siblings.
“I felt really happy and I really loved the runway,” Ms Avila said through a translator after the Saturday show. “I wanted to show the world that there are no barriers.”
Ms White’s other models included US model and actress Tae McKenzie, who uses a wheelchair, and a young girl who also has Down’s syndrome.
