AN epilepsy awareness group will be walking 14 miles ahead of the national awareness day.
Walking to Leighton Hospital in Crewe from Kingsmead this Sunday, March 18, ‘The Purple Warriors’ will be taking on the four-hour challenge to raise awareness for the condition ahead of the national awareness day on March 26.
Rachael King, from Barnton, started fundraising when her children were diagnosed with the condition. The sponsored walk builds on the family’s total of £10,000 given to various epilepsy charities and services.
She said: “After months of planning and preparation it will be great to go out and have some fun whilst raising money for the amazing charities that support family’s like us. It’s going to be a pretty big challenge but it’s all going to a good cause.”
Rachael was recently commended by the Epilepsy Action group with the ‘Epilepsy Action: Speaking Out Award 2018’ as the mum-of-three documents their daily lives living with epilepsy on the Facebook page ‘Our Epilepsy Journey’.
