The Rivertime Accessible Regatta 2018
Wednesday 13th June – Bisham Abbey
Today we were honored to be guests at the annual Rivertive Accessible Regatta held at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, to celebrate inclusion of disabled children across the Thames Valley. A total of 23 SEN schools attended the organised day out particakinf in various activities including included laser shooting, musical workshops, canoeing, bell boating, cheerleading, rowing, cycling and more.
The event was opened by Sarah Newton, MP Minister of State for Disability, Health & work and attended by many dignatories including Paralympian Gold Medalist Naomi Riches MBE and World Para Athletics Junior Championships Gold Medalist Esme O’Connell.
This is the second year this fantastic event has taken place organised by ‘The Riverboat Trust’ & ‘Give Them a Sporting Chance’ and the glorious sunshine was perfect for all the activities in the fabulous grounds of Bisham Abbey.
It was a wonderful opportunity to bring children together from many different schools with inclusion at the heart of the event. The organisers should be commended for their efforts in making the day so memorable for each child giving them the chance to try out many new activities not normally accessible to them.
We very much look forward to next years event.
